Welcome to the Nigeria House of Representatives

This site will give you an overview of the House of Representatives of the 7th National Assembly (2011-2015), the lower chamber of the National Assembly -the supreme law-making body of the land. The House of Representatives of the 7th National Assembly was inaugurated on the 6th June 2011. Out of the 360 members of the House of Representatives, 100 were re-elected while 260 were elected for the first time

Powers of the Legislature 
The National Assembly is the highest law making body of Nigeria. 
The Constitution has vested in it the power to make Laws for "the peace, order and good governance of the Federation

The House of Representatives has passed many amendments to the constitution that will have far reaching effect in Nigeria. More than seventy sections of the constitution have been amended by the House. This was revealed by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha, during a Roundtable Discussion on Law Reform in Nigeria

 
 
 
       
 

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has condemned in strong terms the Monday morning blast which claimed several lives and left many injured at Nyanya, an outskirt of Abuja.

 
 
 
       
 

The Nigeria House of Representatives has, before vacating for a two-week Easter recess, passed for the 2014 fiscal year a budget of four trillion, six hundred and ninety-five Billion, one hundred and ninety million Naira (4, 695,190,000,000) only.
