IS THE ASSENT OF THE PRESIDENT REQUIRED TO VALIDATE AN AMENDMENT OF THE 1999 CONSTITUTION?

The procedure for an amendment of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 is expressly provided for in Section 9 of the Constitution. It requires an Act of the National Assembly for the amendment of the Constitution to be passed by at least two-thirds of all the members of both houses of the National Assembly and for the proposed amendment to be approved by the resolution of the Houses of Assembly of at least two thirds of all the states in Nigeria.
